When vast experience combines with new age technology, the result is something special and that is the lifeline of MGM Healthcare.
We open our doors to offer comprehensive cardiac service including interventional cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery by
adopting a holistic team approach with customized patient care where expert cardiologists focus on the diagnosis
and treatment of all forms of cardiovascular diseases.
Here are some of the cutting edge diagnostic (invasive or non-invasive) and treatment methods we use at MGM Healthcare day
along with traditional methods.
We have new and advanced diagnostic tests which are used to understand the complexity of disease, injury and congenital (present
at birth) or acquired abnormalities. The following are just a few of the diagnostic tests that have been used
to further understand and identify cardiovascular disease.
NON-INVASIVE DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES
The ELECTROCARDIOGRAM (ECG) and ECHOCARDIOGRAM (ECHO) are two common basic diagnostic procedures.
CARDIAC STRESS ANALYSIS
TREAD MILL TEST
A person is made to exercise on a treadmill and ECG is done prior to, during and after the exercise which gives us information
about blood flow to the heart and tolerance to exercise.
DOBUTAMINE STRESS ECHOCARDIOGRAM
It is similar to Tread Mill test except that a drug (Dobutamine) is given to increase the heart rate instead of exercise.
A battery operated portable device which records the rhythm of the heart.
It is to be worn continuously for 24-48 hours.
A non-invasive advanced technique to identify blocks in arteries which supply blood to the heart and also identify congenital
and acquired anomalies of heart and blood vessels.
24 HOUR AMBULATORY BP MONITORING
To monitor blood pressure at regular intervals (20–30 minutes) over a 24 hour period while patients undergo normal daily
activities, including sleep.
TILT TABLE TEST
Used to find the cause of fainting spells.
Person is made to lie on bed that moves from a horizontal to a vertical position.
Heart rate and B.P are monitored.
INVASIVE DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES
It is done to identify blocks in the blood supply to heart.
Electrophysiologists at MGM Healthcare diagnose, treat and manage cardiac arrhythmias using sophisticated high-technology
invasive procedures. These professionals are skilled implanting antiarrhythmia devices such as pace makers and
INTERVENTIONAL THERAPEUTIC PROCEDURES
Interventional cardiologists perform interventional procedures such as balloon angioplasty and are skilled in the use of
various cutting and laser devices to remove plaque buildup from arteries.
CORONARY ANGIOPLASTY AND STENTING
- It is done to open blocked arteries of the heart and restore normal blood flow.
- A thin tube is inserted through a small puncture in the arm or leg artery to the heart.
- The blocked artery is opened by inflating a tiny balloon into it.
- Stent is deployed across the blockage to keep the artery open.
The Preventive Cardiologist in MGM Healthcare is a general clinical cardiologist with special interest and training in the
primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. While all cardiology specialists will know the basics
of preventive cardiology, preventive cardiologists have a more in-depth understanding of the interplay of known
and emerging risk factors.
It is similar to angioplasty except that it is done to open up narrowed cardiac valves instead of blood vessels.
Pacemakers and implantable defibrillators are devices that regulate the heartbeat.
PREVENTIVE AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
The Preventive Cardiology Program at MGM Healthcare is tailored to each patient's individual needs. Our goal is to promote
positive healthy lifestyle change and provide medical management to:
- Reduce risk factors for heart disease
- Prevent strokes, heart attacks
- Reduce the need for future surgery
- Improve quality of life
- Prevent death
- What Are the Risk Factors for Cardiovascular Disease?
- High blood pressure
- Abnormal cholesterol level
- Sleep apnea
- Lack of physical activity
