Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a type of mental disorder in which an individual experiences obsessions or compulsions or both. The obsessive thought or the compulsive act may occur singly or may appear in sequence.
Obsessions are recurring or persistent thoughts, images, or impulses that, rather than being voluntarily produced, seem to invade a person’s consciousness despite their attempts to ignore, suppress, or control them. There are various treatment options available, but sometimes, they don’t work.
In such cases, Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) has proven to be effective. Listen to Dr Sridhar K, Director and Group Head, Institute of Neurosciences & Spinal Disorders, MGM Healthcare, talk about brain stimulation and the impact it has on OCD patients.
