Shoulder arthritis arthroplasty is done to restore the function of the shoulder. The prosthesis in arthroplasty functions with the help of rotator cuff muscles and the bone stalk, but when the rotator cuff muscles and the bone stalk are damaged in situations where there is a tear of the rotator cuff muscle or extensive bone damage, reverse shoulder arthroplasty is performed.
Dr Ram Chidambaram, Director of The Department of Shoulder, Elbow, Hand and Sports Injuries at MGM Healthcare explains all about the indications, procedure and results of reverse shoulder arthroplasty in this video.
