Dr. Ajay Shunmugarajan

Biography

Dr. Ajay Shunmugarajan is an accomplished interventional cardiologist with expertise in complex coronary interventions, rotational/orbital atherectomy, IVL, left main PCI, and large bore access management. He is also trained in electrophysiology with over 200 PPMs, 50 ICDs, CRT implants, echocardiography (2000+ 2D/500 TEE), and structural heart disease. He has served at leading institutions, including Billroth Hospitals, Saveetha Medical College, PGIMER Chandigarh, Prashant Hospitals, Dr. Mehtas Hospitals, and Adyar Cancer Institute. Recently after completing advanced CTO training at Sakurabashi Watanabe Hospital, Japan and observership at Mount Sinai Hospital, USA, he has decided to come back to render services. He has also contributed to digital healthcare innovation as product manager for Careworx/Smart ICU and proctoring for Abbott/Translumina. During his training days he received multiple gold medals including highest aggregate in DM Cardiology at PGIMER and Tamil Nadu TB Association Medal. He has also presented his work internationally and published in peer-reviewed journals like European Heart Journal, JACC, and Indian Heart Journal. He loves challenging interventions, medical research, and teaching cardiology.
