“You won’t develop breast cancer unless it runs in your family.” This is definitely a myth. If one person in your family has been diagnosed with breast cancer over the age of 40, you’re likely to be at risk. However, most breast cancers are not inherited and so they do not increase the lifetime risk for other family members. In fact, only 10% of breast cancers are hereditary.
