MGM Healthcare is a NABH-accredited hospital. The intention of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) accreditation is to improve healthcare quality and patient safety at public and private hospitals and ensure the standards are at par with other global healthcare accreditation standards. The accreditation focuses on patient safety and the quality of the delivery of services by the hospital. The Joint Commission International (JCI) has evaluated the hospital to see if it meets international healthcare quality standards for patient care and organisation management. An extensive on-site audit was conducted at the hospital by a team of international expert surveyors who assessed patient safety goals, patient assessment and care, anaesthesia and surgical care, medication management, patient and family education, quality improvement, infection prevention and control, governance and leadership, facility management, staff qualifications and education, and information management, in accordance with the best international standards and protocols. MGM Healthcare is a NABL-accredited hospital. The purpose of the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) is to provide accreditation to testing and calibration of clinical laboratories in the country. MGM Healthcare is a LEED Platinum-certified hospital. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), powered by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), is an internationally recognised green building certification system that provides verification that a building has been designed and built using efficient strategies like energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction and improved indoor environmental quality. How did we achieve this recognition? By employing the usage of ambient light fittings that are eco-friendly, thus, limiting energy consumption, by making use of natural lighting during the day as 60% of the hospital’s external walls are covered in glass, using recycled water in the washrooms with reduced water consumption per flush. We are currently the highest-ranking USGBC LEED Platinum-certified Green Hospital in South India as we consume one-third the energy and water when compared to other buildings of this scale.

We have performed 9 heart transplants and 3 lung transplants in one month

MGM Healthcare is proud to announce that Dr KR Balakrishnan and team have performed 12 transplants — 9 heart transplants and 3 lung transplants — just in the month of May. We are humbled to say that this is, by far, the largest number of transplants performed in a month done by any hospital in India, Middle East or South Asia!
