Dr Ram Chidambaram, Director – Shoulder, Elbow, Hand and Sports injury at MGM Healthcare talks about elbow arthroscopy.
The doctor talks about the elbow, calling it a complex joint that allows for forearm rotation as well as bending and straightening. The elbow is made up of three bones: the humerus (upper arm), the ulna (forearm on the pinky finger side) and the radius (forearm on the thumb side). When the functions of the elbow cannot be performed due to some stiffness, then elbow arthroscopy or keyhole surgery might be an option.
Orthopaedic surgeons employ arthroscopy, a minimally invasive surgical procedure, to examine, diagnose and treat abnormalities inside the joint. The majority of elbow disorders are caused by injury, misuse and age-related wear and tear. MGM Healthcare has renowned surgeons to guide you and help you choose your treatment option.
