Stroke Rapid Response Team – One Call Can Save a Life!

  • That one in four individuals, will suffer a stroke at some point in their lifetime, makes Stroke a widely prevalent, emergency health condition. It is also one of the world’s leading causes of disability and death. The incidence of Stroke has reached alarming proportions, with people in advancing age, with an unhealthy lifestyle, and high stress environment, particularly susceptible to this condition. In essence, stroke is a condition wherein the blood supply to the brain (or a part thereof) is severely disrupted leading to oxygen starvation, damage to brain tissue, loss of function, and eventual fatality.

  • The cause of a Stroke could be a clot (Ischemic Stroke) or a bleed (Haemorrhagic Stroke). Irrespective of the underlying cause of the disruption to blood flow, the result is oxygen deprivation causing death of the brain tissue. This could potentially lead to permanent Brain damage, resulting in paralysis and speech impairment, and comprehension and memoryloss, in extreme cases, fatality as well.

  • Stroke is a complex medical condition, and requires immediate medical attention, the consequences of which can be both treated and reversed. It is possible to prevent permanent damage, reverse some of them, and avoid fatalities –for which there should be immediate attention, diagnosis, and treatment.

  • Early detection, intervention, and treatment makes a big impact. Bringing in a patient to an advanced medical facility with designated stroke treatment facilities, protocols, and personnel is the key to effective stroke treatment.

  • Thus, on this World Stroke Day, we at the MGM Healthcare are launching the Stroke Rapid Response Team (SRRT) to bring immediate, and expert medical care for all stroke and stroke-related ailments in Chennai.
