Our kidneys play a silent yet major role in filtering the body’s waste and balancing its fluids. These unsung heroes take care of our overall health.
This year’s World Kidney Day theme is “Kidney Health for All – Advancing equitable access to care and optimal medication practice.” The day aims to raise awareness about taking proactive steps to preserve kidney functionality.
World Kidney Day aims at raising awareness about the importance of kidney health and the impact of kidney disease.
Active Measures for overall Kidney Health:
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
Maintain a healthy diet low in sodium, saturated fats, and processed foods, and high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Monitor blood pressure and keep it within a healthy range.
Exercise regularly to promote overall cardiovascular health, which in turn supports kidney function.
Avoid smoking and limit alcohol consumption.
Management of diabetes, hypertension, obesity , smoking and a family history of kidney disease.
Get regular check-ups and screenings to detect any kidney problems early.
Be cautious with over-the-counter medications and supplements, and consult a doctor before taking any new medications.
Maintain a healthy weight through a balanced diet and regular physical activity.
Practice good hygiene to prevent infections that can affect the kidneys.
MGM Healthcare’s active contribution to community health is evident through their kidney wellness health check for auto-rickshaw drivers. Partnering with the Tanker Foundation (Tamil Nadu Kidney Research Foundation), we conducted a preventive health check program where over 100 auto drivers participated.
MGM Healthcare also conducted an awareness session, educating auto drivers about the importance of hydration, balanced diet, and regular exercise in maintaining optimal kidney function.
The kidney screening camp on World Kidney Day emphasizes MGM Healthcare’s commitment to community health and well-being, while also aligning with our motto of ‘Doing more better’
