Biography

Dr. Venkatesh B.S. has over seven years of experience in the field of hepatology and liver transplantation. He completed his MBBS from Govt. Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, Salem, and his M.S. in General Surgery from Govt. Stanley Medical College & Hospital, Chennai, where he was awarded the prestigious Surgical Gastroenterology Medal in his final examination.

His growing interest in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery and liver transplantation led him to pursue M.Ch. super-speciality training in HPB Surgery & Liver Transplantation at the renowned Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi. Recognized for his academic and clinical excellence, he received the Young Mentor Award from the Chairman of the University Grants Commission for his dedication to mentoring and education.

He has worked as a consultant in the Department of HPB surgery and liver transplant @ Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, Chennai for the past 4 years.

His expertise spans performing complex HPB procedures, including recipient hepatectomy, cadaveric multi-organ retrieval, donor hepatectomies, and both living donor liver transplants (LDLT) and deceased donor liver transplants (DDLT). He has actively contributed to more than 450 LDLT and DDLT surgeries while also being involved in post-operative ICU care.

He has successfully operated peripheral outreach clinics across multiple states, including Bihar (Patna), North Bengal (Alipurduar, Coochbehar, Toofangunj, Jalpaiguri), Assam (Guwahati), Andhra Pradesh (Nellore), and Tamil Nadu (Salem), providing accessible liver care to patients. Additionally, he is actively learning robotic HPB procedures, further advancing his skills in liver, pancreas, and gastrointestinal surgeries.
